The network that brought you the “This is an apple” commercial, to show their commitment to presenting the only facts, wants you to know about the latest federal indictment of a Trump donor.
Evan Perez, CNN’s chief “justice correspondent” joined ‘The Newsroom’ to break the news of federal charges being levied against Trump donor Tom Barrack.
When joining ‘The Newsroom’ Perez wanted his viewers to know that the FARA violation indictment alleges in part that Barrack “…..had enough juice, enough power, within the Trump administration that he managed to get some praise of the UAE inserted into a May 2019 speech that Trump was delivering….”
As well as the fact that the FBI alleges that Barrack lied to federal investigators.
The next time Perez appeared on CNN, this time with Jake Tapper on “The lead” Perez reports that “….back in 2016, then candidate Donald Trump is making a speech-an energy speech-and at the request of his clients in the UAE Barrack allegedly inserted language praising the UAE which the president delivered..or the candidate then Trump delivered during his speech…”
This is quite a difference in facts presented, as how a candidate behaves has fewer legal ramifications than would be present for a sitting President controlling policy.
Joy Behar learned this after Brian Ross’s botched reporting of Muller’s investigation in regards to Michael Flynn.
CNN has removed the 3pm Newsroom clip from their story, instead linking to a news read that reports the timeline of events Perez told Tapper later in the evening.
The updated story can be found here. No correction has been issued from Perez or CNN at this time.
